Listen more! We cannot listen enough. And with that, I don´t only mean to be present and listen to what is said. I mean listening without judgement, being open to learn and open to change your own perspective. We are often trapped and believe our view or opinion is the right one. But it is actually just one of many different ones.

 

There are two levels of listening. Level 1 is when you think about your own experience and reply with what happened to you. You might know a friend or two who do that. You tell them about a problem and they reply that they know everything about it and were in situations that were much worse. How does that make you feel? Probably not listened to? Do you enjoy these conversation?

 

Level 2 is when you are with the person, you listen, you don´t judge, you ask open questions to understand more and support the person getting a better picture of their situation. 

Be a level 2 listener and be surprised what you learn about people and how they and you feel more appreciated!
